MEET OUR TEAM

Marcelo Daidone Chalita
Marcelo is a qualified lawyer who graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. He possesses robust academic and practical expertise in Criminal Law, Environmental Crimes, and Animal Protection. In 2022, he specialized in Criminology with a focus on Animal Criminology, earning this degree from the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences (IBCCRIM). Furthermore, Marcelo has advanced his education in Animal Law by pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Animal Law at Lewis & Clark Law School in the United States during the 2023/2024 academic year.
In addition to his work in Animal Law, Marcelo is an active member of the Latin American Association of Lawyers for Climate Change (LACLIMA) and has considerable experience as a volunteer lawyer, providing legal consulting for international organizations, including Animal Equality Brazil and the UK. His additional qualifications include completing a course on Climate Emergencies, Human Rights, and Animal Rights at the University of São Paulo Law School (FDUSP) in 2022.
As an international member of The Vegan Society UK, Marcelo has made noteworthy contributions to the protection of marine life by drafting and filing a Federal lawsuit in defense of sharks in Brazil, in collaboration with Sea Shepherd Brazil.

Leticia Filpi
Leticia currently serves as the President of Gaia Libertas, an organization dedicated to environmental advocacy. As a distinguished environmental lawyer with a degree from PUC/SP, she has established herself as a leading voice in the field in Brazil.
Her commitment to animal rights is evident through her founding and ongoing coordination of the GAAV (Voluntary Animal Rights Lawyers Group of São Paulo). Furthermore, she serves as the Legal Director at ANDA (Animal Rights News Agency), the country's first News Agency for animals.
With over a decade of experience in the specialized field of animal law, she has adeptly managed numerous complex cases and legal proceedings aimed at defending animal rights. Her expertise has made her a sought-after speaker at various legal events, prestigious universities, and both national and international vegan gatherings, where she passionately shares her insights on animal advocacy.
In addition to her speaking engagements, she has actively participated in public hearings and parliamentary inquiries, contributing her knowledge and expertise to essential discussions surrounding animal rights legislation. Her unwavering dedication to the cause continues to inspire many within the field.

Priscila Soares
Priscila is a passionate activist in the field of Animal Law who has dedicated her career to the pursuit of broad animal liberation. Her mission is to advocate for the rights of all animals, whether they are domestic pets, wild creatures, or farmed livestock, ensuring they enjoy dignified living conditions, robust legal protection, and the respect they deserve as sentient beings.

Her impactful legal work includes several notable cases, where she has successfully prosecuted instances of animal cruelty, holding offenders accountable for their actions. Each case has not only served to bring justice to the animals involved but has also acted as a catalyst for public discourse about the treatment of animals in Brazilian society.
Additionally, Priscila has engaged in public civil actions aimed at securing the liberation and dignity of non-human animals, fighting against oppressive practices, and advocating for policies that prioritize animal rights and environmental preservation.
